Remedy Partners

Five Questions For . . . Steve Wiggins

Steve Wiggins | Chairman and CEO

Steve Wiggins, Chairman & CEO, Remedy Partners shares his background and thoughts on the evolution of healthcare:

What led you to what you are doing now?

In 1975 my best friend, Mike Pesch, broke his neck and became a quadriplegic and I took a job as an orderly at the Rehabilitation Center he lived in. I worked there almost every day through college and did an Honors Project my senior year envisioning a network of residential environments for people with severe mobility impairments. It led me to create a non-profit organization called Accessible Space in 1978 when I graduated. I've been in healthcare ever since.

What is the biggest challenge in your job at Remedy?

Making sure we have a great team, working successfully together, and that we are headed in the right direction.

What do you think healthcare will look like in 2020?

Healthcare changes slowly, so if you squint it won't seem so much different than 2016. But under the microscope, at the cellular level of how incentives and motivations have changed, how patients are engaged and how care is coordinated, it will be clear that it is no longer your father's healthcare system.

What is the accomplishment at Remedy you are most proud of?

We created a huge footprint in U.S. healthcare and have a chance to lead an important part of healthcare reform.

What’s one thing you pursue in your non-work time?

I pursue lots of different things. I like to read and that's when I'm most relaxed.  I just finished No God But God, which gave me a better understanding of the history of Islam. I'm reading The Father now. I also like to stay active, so I ride my bicycle, play golf and go kite-boarding.  My wife and I try to walk our dog, Mr. T, as often as we can.
